Verendrye Museum
The Verendrye Museum, Inc. was established in September 1967 and the museum opened in the Summer of 1968. Over the years thousands of local people and tourists of all ages have frequented not only the museum, but also the four other historical museums (Log Cabin Visitor Center Museum, Sansarc Country School Museum, 1905 Stanley County Jail Museum and the Fort Pierre Depot Museum) which have been built/restored over the last 50 years. All the museums have vintage memorabilia, antiques, and artifacts specific to the buildings which houses the items. The Verendrye Museum building is on the National Register and is housed in the American Legion Community Hall which was built as a WPA project and dedicated by Governor Berry in 1933.
